The Advitel Audio Unit is a compact and robust solid state computer. If the unit is to be installed in a rack then a shelf is required and is connected both to the network, via a LAN port, and to the telephone system, via an external audio port.
The unit runs a Linux OS, and the Advitel OnHold software and is configured to contact the content servers at regular intervals and pull down content as required. Content is NOT pushed to the unit so does not compromise security and is formatted in a very compressed format to reduce any load on the network.
The unit can be scheduled to play any content at any time. This is set up on the content servers as part of the managed service.
For each independent audio route a unit is required. The unit can run inside a network even behind a proxy, or in the DMZ in front of any firewall.
The unit will automatically download any content changes and when scheduled to play will introduce the new content into the audio playback. The unit plays all content in a cycle so callers in a queue or on hold which are routed to this audio source, will enter the cycle at a random time.
Unit identity can be grouped together for simultaneous download and management. Alternatively every site can be treated uniquely with specific content scheduling and playback suited to the location needs.
